Following the news that my treatment has worked I’m now booked to see the consultant (aka The Bum Doctor!) on Saturday morning.
I should then get the date for my next surgery which I anticipate will be towards the end of this month.
Once the tumour has been removed they will send it to the lab to see if it is all been removed. If he is not able to remove all of it or there is a chance that some is left behind I will need to have some ‘mop up’ chemotherapy, which to be honest, I wouldn’t mind as I’d rather be completely sure that it has all gone.
How do I feel about this upcoming surgery? Of all of the procedures I’ve had this will be the ‘biggest’. I’m not particularly worried but I suppose I am a little apprehensive about the immediate aftermath of the surgery. Because the tumour is in the lower part of the rectum which will be removed I’m guessing siting down is going to be a bit of a challenge for sometime afterwards!
I’m sure my concerns will be alleviated when I see my consultant.
So, this should be the final phase of my recovery, it will be good to get it out of the way and then move on with life and living.
So far, I’ve been very fortunate with all of my treatments so hopefully this last one will go just as smoothly.
I know I’m in the hands of an excellent team and I continue to have the support of my family and friends. As always, I really appreciate all of their help, for me and for Paula.
I’ll post again once I know the details of the next steps.
Thanks for reading, have a good day!
